That didn’t take long…

After only two weeks (and a nice family vacation to Arizona for my oldest son’s Army AIT graduation), we had to move the purple flock to the intermediate brooder because they outgrew it.
Since we are now in the hot months of summer, for this flock, I enclosed a portion of our garden shed overhang to put the brooder there so that it can get good ventilation, sun, and have a mostly protected area from storms. For storms we will still need to put a tarp over the front to protect from rain.

We have already lost two chicks from this flock. One while we were on vacation, but the second one died when the water bucket fell on it. The chick lasted a day, but was found dead in the morning.
I don’t think this will last long either, given we still have over 20 chicks. We are currently looking into options for a new chicken tractor build, including building one on a trailer chassis to make it easier to pull around the fields.
