Let us grow some lettuce

We planted a few things in the garden this year. It’s hard to get things to grow to harvest because the chickens keep finding a way into the garden no matter how much we try to keep them out.

This year we tried something new, lettuce. We actually got some!

We haven’t quite got the idea of staggered planting so that we have enough for the entire summer, but we were able to have plenty for salads and hamburgers and other foods. I expect we will get better at creating planting schedules in the future.

We have planted some other items as well. We have raspberries and blackberries, summer squash, green beans, cantaloupe and watermelon. Unfortunately the chickens managed to get to the onions before those were ready.
